Holger Rune returns to provocations in match with Jannik Sinner
Holger Rune returned to talk about the Monte Carlo semifinal win over Jannik Sinner in an interview with Tennis Majors. Many have accused him of being too provocative on the court: “If you face a local tennis player and Sinner has a lot of fans there, it’s difficult. No matter what you do, they will cheer for him. After I lost the first set I thought ‘I can’t go on like this’ and found the energy to get back into the match, I used some negative emotions as fuel.”
Rune denies being cocky: “I don’t think I am cocky, on court I am different because I put passion into it. I am very competitive, but off the field I am not like that. I am not conceited. I think it’s good to have strong personalities on the field, especially for sports. Social media? If I can, I will continue to answer fans’ questions.”
