Gigi Datome made some statements to “Sette,” a weekly newspaper of Corriere della Sera.

The small forward of the meneghini first analyzed the difficulties he had in the Euroleague: “Several reasons, starting with the many injuries suffered. But if we were up to the task in the defensive phase, putting the right attention, we were less incisive on the offensive level, conditioned precisely by the injuries.”

He then moved on to the championship, leaving little doubt as to what the goal is: “We want to win it, regardless of the season in the Euroleague, just like last year, when we did well in the cup: it’s an opportunity to close with a celebration. We have worked hard, struggled a lot, we deserve it.”

“It’s just a certificate of esteem from President Petrucci: for now I think about playing and live in serenity, without many worries, my post-career,” he concluded, regarding the possibility of filling the role of successor to FIP President Gianni Petrucci.
