F1, Ralf Schumacher lapidary on Sergio Perez
F1, Ralf Schumacher goes against the grain with respect to Christian Horner
The Baku GP brought another Red Bull one-two, with Sergio Perez edging ahead of Max Verstappen, thus shortening the gap in the standings on the Dutchman. In a post-race press conference, team principal Christian Horner commented on the rainbow race, assuring his drivers that they have full freedom to fight each other.
Of a different opinion, however, would seem to be Ralf Schumacher and Robert Doornbos. Micheal Schumacher’s brother, mindful of the rifts between the Dutchman and the Mexican in the past, spoke categorically on the issue to the microphones of Sky Sport Deutschland: “From my point of view it is clear that Max wants a new teammate. I hear these rumors everywhere.”
“The words uttered by Horner over the radio to Max will not have pleased Checo fans. He implied that Perez’s victory came only thanks to the luck of the Safety Car, so implicitly the team does not see Sergio at the same level as Verstappen,” this, instead the thought of Robert Doornbos.
