Borna Coric will face Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals

Borna Coric will be Carlos Alcaraz’s opponent in the semifinals at the Madrid Masters 1000. The Croatian, No. 20 in the world rankings, defeated Germany’s Daniel Altmaier, who occupies the No. 92 spot in the ATP rankings, on Wednesday night: 6-3, 6-3 the final score of a match that lasted an hour and fifteen minutes and was virtually never in dispute.

For Coric now comes the obstacle Alcaraz, guistizier of Karen Khachanov a few hours earlier (6-4, 7-5 the score). This is an unprecedented match: there is no precedent, in fact, between the Murcian and the 26-year-old Zagreb-born.

The semifinal match between the two is scheduled for Friday: on Thursday, however, it is the turn of the other two quarters, that between Zhang and Karatsev and that between Struff and Tsitsipas.
