Chris Evert doesn’t hold back on Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune
Former U.S. tennis player Chris Evert in an interview with Warner Bros Discovery Sport made some remarks ahead of the ever-closer Roland Garros. Carlos Alcaraz is the big favorite: “He’s ready. He must be well physically because he is playing so much, I feel we have never seen a versatile player like him, with so much passion and hunger. The guy has everything: he’s athletic, he moves well, he can attack and defend-he’s incredible, he has no weaknesses. If he can keep himself healthy and hungry, I think Roland Garros will be his.”
The two veterans Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic in physical difficulty: “They are the greatest clay court tennis players in recent years, yet with advancing age they are experiencing some physical problems. Hopefully all of them can be healthy, also because it seems that so many players in the last period have been injured. Novak and Rafa are two question marks from a health standpoint.”
Among the ousiders, the former WTA number one admitted to being impressed by Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune: “Working with Darren Cahill has made Jannik much more professional and physically strong, already a couple of times he has come face to face with Alcaraz. Lately, then, I have also been impressed by Holger Rune, I think he is very dangerous. I don’t know if he will be able to win the tournament, but I think he could eliminate a top player. I would also keep Taylor Fritz’s name in consideration.”
