Inter fourth again: 2-0 at Roma and Giallorossi knocked out
A clear away win that can be worth a lot for the Champions race.
Inter raced to Rome, where they beat José Mourinho’s Giallorossi 2-0 in a direct clash that is extremely valuable in terms of Champions League. In fact, goals by Federico Dimarco and Romelu Lukaku, one in each half, allow the Nerazzurri to move up to 63 points in the much-coveted fourth place of Serie A. The Capitolini, on the other hand, remain stationary at 58.
Roma tried to get off to a flying start, building the first chance with Pellegrini just seconds after the match began. Inter responded with Brozovic, who earned only a corner, imitated on the opposite side of the pitch by the usual Pellegrini. The balance jumps, however, in the 33rd minute, when Dimarco takes advantage of the action on the Brozovic-Dumfries axis and in tap-in puts the guests ahead. Before halftime it was Ibanez and Belotti who tried in vain for the equalizer.
In the second half, one would expect an immediate Giallorossi reaction, but apart from a vague attempt by Zalewski, it is Inter that is favored: Correa makes himself dangerous twice, then Dimarco tries for a one-two but Roma saves in the corner. The hosts grew and Ibanez severely engaged Onana, but moments after Dybala entered the field it was Lukaku who closed the score: in the 74th minute, in fact, he took advantage of a ball stolen by Lautaro Martinez from Ibanez and left-footed to score the double. In the final there is also Lautaro’s crossbar, but the result does not change anymore.
