Giro 2023, Jonathan Milan triumphs in sprint to San Salvo

A sprint triumph to take the first sprinter’s stage of the Giro 2023.

Jonathan Milan is the winner of the second stage of the Giro d’Italia 2023, which started from Teramo and arrived at the finish line in San Salvo. The Friulian of the Bahrain Victorius team imposed himself with great authority in the final sprint, preceding Dutchman David Dekker (Arkea Samsic) and Belgian Arne Marit (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty). The initial breakaway of five riders, including Italians Alessandro Verre, Mattia Bais and Stefano Gandin, had been to no avail. Remco Evenepoel, winner of the opening time trial, remains in the pink jersey.
