Iling and Vlahovic knock out Atalanta: Juventus second

Thanks to goals from 19-year-old Iling and bomber Vlahovic, Juventus crushed Atalanta in Bergamo 2-0 and won a crucial victory in the race to qualify for the next Champions League.

Three golden points for Allegri’s team, which flies to second place in the standings, bypassing Lazio, beaten on Saturday, and moves to +5 on fifth-placed Milan. Stop for Bergamo’s side after three wins in a row, Gasperini’s men remain sixth on 58 points.

First half full of chances, the Bianconeri came close to taking the lead with Milik and Di Maria, Gasperini’s team hit the post in the 25th minute with Scalvini and gobbled up a chance before halftime with Pasalic. Orobiche protests for two dubious episodes in the Torino area, but the referee shoots straight.

Juve ahead in the 56th minute: Iling, in his first start in Serie A, finds the winning deflection in a scrum in the box after a cross from Rabiot. Allegri’s team closed in and restarted on the counterattack, exploiting the spaces that Atalanta inevitably conceded because they were unbalanced.

In the 75th minute Szczesny overcame Koopmeiners’ shot and left the Old Lady’s goal untouched, in the 89th minute Zappacosta hit the right post: it was the second woodwork for La Dea. And before the triple whistle comes the guests’ double: to sign it is Dusan Vlahovic on an assist from Chiesa.
