Charles Leclerc and others, bitching Marko: “Verstappen inimitable”
For both the Cavallino bearers and everyone else there seems to be little hope.
Max Verstappen won the Miami Grand Prix ahead of teammate Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso, with the Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc forced to fifth and seventh place. A real feat for the Red Bull Dutchman, moreover achieved seemingly with derisory ease despite starting from ninth on the grid. And crushing his opponents’ hopes was taken care of by someone who knows him extremely well as Helmut Marko.
“Verstappen managed the tires in a way that no one can imitate. He won the race and even managed to take the fastest lap in the finale,” recalled Marko, interviewed at home by ‘Österreich.’ His simultaneous overtaking of Leclerc and Magnussen was a joy to watch.
In addition to Leclerc, however, Verstappen also overtook fellow driver Perez, among others. “All that effort was not necessarily necessary, but we have always said that as long as they don’t take risks we will let Max and Checo free to race against each other as well. And that’s a decision I agree with,” Marko added.
