Jorge Lorenzo’s words.

Jorge Lorenzo on his official Instagram profile returned to talk about what happened in Valencia in 2015.

“Marc Marquez and I arrived at the parc ferme and 80 percent of the circuit-probably all Spaniards-were booing me after we beat Valentino Rossi. That’s something I never understood. People were insulting my mother and my friends. All Spanish people. ‘You stole the world championship from us,’ they would say, and they were Spaniards with Rossi’s yellow T-shirts. We were two Spanish riders, the fastest in the world, and we were booed. They were shouting at us that we stole.”

After six titles won by Valentino Rossi in eight years it was the Spanish riders who took the lion’s share of the MotoGp world championship. From 2012 to 2020 they alone have won, with Jorge Lorenzo a two-time world champion, Marc Marquez (6) and Joan Mir, triumphant in 2020 with his Suzuki.
