Internazionali d’Italia: Camila Giorgi lands in fluency in the third round
Camila Giorgi wins and convinces in her second-round match at the Internazionali d’Italia women’s tournament. On the Campo Pietrangeli at the Foro Italico, the 31-year-old from the Marche region, world number 37, beat Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, number 22, 6-4 6-2 in one hour and 29 minutes of play and will now face Czech Karolina Muchova, number 52, who got the better of Martina Trevisan 7-5 in the third set today by annulling a match point.
First set quite hard fought and decided by a break in the 10th game in favor of Camila after a break on each side in the second and third games. In the second set the Italian immediately sprinted to 3-0 and always brilliantly held her serve closing in the eighth game again on her opponent’s serve.
Nothing to do instead for Lisa Pigato, number 483 in the ranking, who had the prediction completely closed against the other Russian Daria Kasatkina, number 9 WTA, and in fact she lost sharply 6-1 6-2 staying on the court for an hour and 10 minutes anyway.
