Martina Trevisan disappointment: immediately eliminated in Rome

Bitter defeat for Martina Trevisan in her debut at the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome against Czech Karolina Muchova. The Azzurra, world number 18 and first in Italy, was beaten in three sets at the end of a heart-stopping match at the Foro Italico, which ended with the scores of 6-3, 3-6, 5-7.

After a positive first set, the light went out for Trevisan, who lost seven games in a row, surrendering 6-3 in the second and finding herself down 0-4 in the third.

With her back to the wall, the Tuscan tennis player recovered and in turn strung together a five-game losing streak, leading 5-4. Then the bitter epilogue: Martina failed to take advantage of a math point in the tenth game, and suffered the final comeback of the Czech who won 7-5. In the third round Muchova will face the winner of the match between Camila Giorgi and Alexandrova.
