A very violent protest staged by the Groningen fans led to the suspension of the match with Ajax, valid for the 32nd day of the Eredivisie, the Dutch top league: referee Jeroen Manschot actually blew the triple whistle after not even ten minutes of play.

Unleashing the anger of the local supporters was Groningen’s relegation, which became official in the past day: on Sunday there were throwing of objects and smoke bombs, which gave off a black blanket, but also pitch invasions. Impossible to go on in those conditions….
