Brentford, maxi disqualification for Ivan Toney
Brentford: maxi sting for Ivan Toney
Brentford will have to do without its center forward for a long time. The English Football Association, in fact, has handed Ivan Toney an eight-month suspension from all soccer and soccer-related activities plus a £50,000.00 fine for breaking the rules on soccer cheating. The disqualification will last until January 16, 2024, but the English striker will be able to return to training with the club from September 17, 2023.
“Ivan Toney has been suspended from all soccer and football-related activities with immediate effect for eight months, which runs up to and including Jan. 16, 2024, fined £50,000 and cautioned about his future conduct for violations of FA betting rules. The Brentford FC striker was charged with 262 violations of FA Rule E8 in total between Feb. 25, 2017 and Jan. 23, 2021. The FA later withdrew 30 of these violations and admitted the remaining 232.
His sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent regulatory commission following a personal hearing. He is only allowed to return to training with his club for the final four months of his suspension beginning Sept. 17, 2023. The Independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for these sanctions will be published in due course and the FA will wait to review them before commenting further,” this the statement issued by the English Football Association.
