World champion Max Verstappen also expressed his support on social media: “Our thoughts are with all those affected by the heavy rain and flooding in Emilia Romagna. A big wish for strength to safely overcome these moments.”
All the teams have sent messages to the flood victims, with drivers including George Russell’s note: “I’m sorry for the fans that this weekend’s race was cancelled, but the safety of all those affected must always come first. A big wish to all the people in Emilia-Romagna and surrounding areas who have been affected by these floods.”
