Boris Becker no-nonsense about Jannik Sinner and Emma Raducanu
Former German tennis player Boris Becker in an interview with the Guardian spoke about the change of hierarchies taking place in world tennis: “The changing of the guard is already taking place, and the proof is Carlos Alcaraz world number 1 after winning the US Open last year.”
“But he is not the only one: there are young stars like Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune knocking on the door,” Becker stressed.
Another up-and-coming tennis player like Emma Raducanu, on the other hand, is in a major crisis: “I’m afraid that the operations she has undergone will jeopardize her career. She had surgery on the wrist of the hand she holds the racket with, then on the other one and on an ankle. These are really serious injuries for a young player like her. And tennis is a completely different sport when you’re a target-everyone can pick up a racket and play, but when you’re the one everyone wants to beat, things change.”
