Paola Egonu was born in Cittadella, in the province of Padua, in 1998. Her parents are of Nigerian origin; it is said that her father, when the future volleyball champion was very young, was seriously considering changing her sport, diverting her to basketball. We will never know if Paola would have become a great basketball player, but for sure, as far as volleyball is concerned, she is at the top at the planetary level. In 2022 she left Italy to move to Turkey and defend the colors of VakıfBank Istanbul.
