Ivan Ljubicic is confident about Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz.
Ivan Ljubicic weighs in on the comparison between the Dane and the Spaniard
A few days before the start of Roland Garros, Roger Federer’s long-time coach Ivan Ljubicic spoke to the microphones of “La Gazzetta dello Sport” about the differences between Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz.
“Rune is a person who has a lot of self-confidence and in this sport it is important to have this hunger to always want more. Alcaraz, on the other hand is calmer, more mature and can handle situations on the court better. In the last few tournaments I have not seen a big gap between the two, in fact I think that slowly this gap is getting thinner and thinner,” admitted the former Croatian tennis player.
Next Ljubicic wanted to focus on the winner of the Internazionali d’Italia Daniil Medvedev: “We are talking about a player who was number one in the world and was able to win a Slam like the Us Open. He is a tennis player who plays very well. On clay his serve is less incisive, as well as his shots are less troublesome. I don’t think clay will become his favorite surface in the future.”
