F1, Ferrari: Laurent Mekies gets unbalanced on Charles Leclerc
Laurent Mekies comments on Ferrari’s Friday in Monte Carlo
On the sidelines of Friday’s free practice, Laurent Mekies spoke about Ferrari’s day, and specifically the work done by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, at the Monte Carlo circuit.
“First of all, it has to be said that we are only at the beginning of a long weekend, we cannot overestimate today’s performance,” Ferrari’s sporting director told ‘Speedweek.’ However, it is true that we have an opportunity here to do better than at other tracks, we can take advantage of it to get closer to the top but I cannot say that I am sure that it is enough to fight for victory on Sunday.”
“Leclerc is a driver with pure talent,” Mekies added, “those like him can cope best with the difficult conditions of a street circuit. Because here, as a driver, you have to get as close as possible to one hundred percent without going over the limit. Because at one hundred and one percent you go against the wall. You have to get the most out of the car, but without overdoing it.”
