Marc Marquez: chief engineer explains what he demands from Honda
Marc Marquez sends more signals to Honda through his chief technician, Santi Hernandez, who in an interview with Nico Abad’s Youtube channel was clear: “We need to improve acceleration and top speed. It is complicated for the drivers to know that they are going to lose so much in the straights, because then they have to recover in other places. There are riders who don’t want to take risks, Marc, on the other hand, is always the same and can pull things out of the bike that are not there. It’s normal that if you’ve fallen so many times you don’t want to force too much.”
“Marquez has been good at adapting to the problems of the bike,” continued Santi Hernandez. “He can explain things well and when he talks it seems like he is giving you a solution. In Le Mans he could have finished fourth, but his DNA is to win. With all the races he lost, I don’t think about winning the World Championship, although anything can happen with Marc. But I liked more the races when the rider made more of a difference.”
