Jannik Sinner is not yet thinking about Carlos Alcaraz.
Roland Garros: Jannik Sinner takes the pressure off
Jannik Sinner spoke to Eurosport’s microphones on the eve of Roland Garros, the second Slam of the season that kicks off on Sunday. “Roland Garros is definitely an important tournament for me, it’s the first time I’m playing a Grand Slam tournament where I’ve already made the Quarterfinals and it’s definitely something different for me,” the Italian number one began. “At the end every year something changes but we’re talking about a really important tournament, hopefully we’ll do well.
So he wanted to take the pressure off, thinking for one match at a time: “In tournaments like these you need experience, I have been training very well and I already feel that I am playing better than in Rome. I’ve found myself and I’m very happy with how I am on the court, but I definitely don’t want pressure with this winning thing. I know my potential but I want to see round by round.”
Thoughts do not yet go to Carlos Alcaraz, whom he may only face in a hypothetical final: “For sure it is always difficult to play against Carlos but at the moment I have to think about other tennis players. There is still time though I hope to meet him again, let’s see how it goes.”
