Roland Garros: Alcaraz loses a set but passes the round
Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the third round of Roland Garros thanks to a four-set victory (6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2) over Japan’s Taro Daniel, in a more difficult match than expected for the world number one.
The Spanish champion after closing quickly in the opening set dropped in concentration in the second and suffered the comeback of the Japanese, who was good at equalizing the challenge. Then the Iberian got back on track by closing the other two partials rather quickly. In the third round Alcaraz will take on Canadian Denis Shapovalov, who eliminated our Matteo Arnaldi.
For the Murica tennis player it was victory number 32 out of 35 matches in 2023.
