Jacques Villeneuve slams Charles Leclerc: “He makes too many mistakes, Sainz is better now.”
After Monza, the judgments toward the performance of the Cavallino drivers continue.
Charles Leclerc also in the crosshairs of Jacques Villeneuve after the Italian Grand Prix, which saw a Ferrari on the podium but that of teammate Carlos Sainz. The 1997 world champion decided to make an analysis on the relationship between the two Maranello drivers and also on the results they are getting on the track.
"The Ferrari è a difficult car to drive,” Villeneuve premised to the microphones of 'PlanetF1.com' -That said, forò, Charles Leclerc is not showing confidence and instead is making too many mistakes. A situation that is not helping the team make progress".
Then Villeneuve è dwelled on Leclerc’s box mate: "Carlos Sainz, right now, è the best of the drivers Ferrari has. On the part of neither of them, however, there's the kind of drive that, for example, Verstappen, Alonso or Hamilton bring to their teams. The drivers have to pull the team, and right now in Ferrari neither of them is really doing that".
Leclerc's phase of difficulty, however, according to Villeneuve himself has a justification: "He had signed an important contract, with the goal of becoming world champion in Ferrari. Now he sees that this may not happen, and he is expressing his frustration at the wheel".
