The national women’s soccer team has a new coach, Andrea Soncin. It was announced by the Figc, which also announced that Viviana Schiavi was promoted to assist him in the role of deputy. The official presentation è scheduled in Coverciano on Monday, Sept. 18: the debut è scheduled against Switzerland in the Nations League on Sept. 22.
"È Andrea Soncin is the new coach of the National Women’s team: the coach, back from his experience at Venezia Primavera in which he directed for two parentheses also the first team in Serie A and B, succeeds Milena Bertolini and will have at his side Viviana Schiavi, former Azzurra, already in Club Italia since 2017, last season coach of the National Women’s Under 16"
These are the words of President Gravina: "We welcome Andrea Soncin at the helm of the National Women’s team, his love for the Azzurri jersey, his technical preparation and his great enthusiasm represent decisive elements for the start of the new course of the Azzurre. We have a really difficult Nations League round ahead of us, but our goal è to lay the foundations for the National Team of the future, with a view to European and World Cup qualifiers".
"Along with Soncin will be Viviana Schiavi, who is very familiar with both female soccer players and the federal organization. In addition to these choices, we will soon launch an important development project for the base of the movement, which will facilitate the revival of the growth of Italian women’s soccer and for which the Federation will allocate a substantial economic contribution".
