Fabio Fognini called Angelo Binaghi after controversy in recent days

Signs of détente between the federal environment and Fabio Fognini, after the controversy of the last few days that followed the Ligurian tennis player’s harsh reaction, on social media and beyond, after his failure to be called for this week’s Davis Cup commitments.

As confirmed by Federtennis president Angelo Binaghi to Ansa, there's been a telephone conversation between the number one of the Federation and Fognini himself: "These are things that happen in the family – said Binaghi speaking of the former top 10 player's statements -, I appreciated that Fognini called me this morning and we clarified a few things' things".

Therefore, Binaghi tried to close the matter: "From tomorrow he and I will be the first and second supporters of this national team. Then we will deal with this small problem success, which does not affect our medium- and long-term goals.

With the absences of Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini, stopped by physical problems, Fabio Fognini expected the summons from captain Filippo Volandri, who però chose, for the challenges against Canada, Chile and Sweden, Lorenzo Musetti, Lorenzo Sonego, Matteo Arnaldi and Andrea Vavassori. From lì the vitriolic social posts by the veteran and the reaction, no less harsh, of Volandri himself: the intervention of Binaghi tries soì to extinguish the controversy.
