Barbora Krejcikova wins in San Diego
Czech Barbora Krejcikova won the San Diego WTA 500 tournament by beating Russian-born American Sofia Kenin 6-4 2-6 6-4.
The 27-year-old world No. 13 won the seventh title of her career and the second this year, following the WTA 1000 in Dubai in February in which she beat Poland's until a week ago world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the final.
The former women's tennis No. 2 and winner of Roland Garros in 2021 won after a tough 2-hour, 38-minute battle against 24-year-old Kenin, world No. 93 and winner of the Australian Open in 2020.
