Federvolley president Giuseppe Manfredi took stock of the last few months of the women’s national team, amid disappointing European Championships and the failure to qualify directly for the Olympics.

"C’è great bitterness for not taking advantage of the’opportunity to qualify directly for the Olympic Games. The seasonal balance of the women’s national team è undoubtedly negative and we must take note of that. È undeniable that this year several things have not worked".

"If in the past seasons we have achieved several successes and thus much praise, now è it is fair to accept criticism: this è the law of the sports world. In 2022 at the conclusion of the World Cup I stated that I considered the season positive, by virtue of the World Championship Bronze medal and the victory of the Volleyball Nations League, this year, however, I must admit, just as clearly, that mistakes were made", are the words of Manfredi, entrusted to a note.

Possible news will come soon: among them the farewell of Davide Mazzanti and the possible return of many Azzurre, including Paola Egonu. "Since the next few days, together with the Federal Council, we will analyze in detail what happened and we will work with the aim of finding quickly the best solution to overcome this complicated moment. The qualification for the Paris 2024 Games è largely within our reach and for the new season the Fipav’s goal will certainly be to reprogram on a new basis and with accuracy all the Azzurri’s activity, to allow the national women’s team to return to the top of world volleyball".
