Serie A 2023-24: Cagliari-Milan, the likely lineups
Cagliari-Milan, the probable formations
The midweek Serie A round offers, among the other challenges of the sixth day, a match as surely interesting as Cagliari-Milan, full of cues from both sides. Cagliari is playing to find its first success in a league that has so far given just two points in five games despite good performances by Claudio Ranieri's men, on the other hand Milan wants to give continuity to last Saturday's success against Hellas Verona, which restored morale to an environment in which the air, after the 1-5 in the derby and the 0-0 against a dull Newcastle, was becoming heavy.
The Rossoneri, still deprived of Maignan and Calabria and without Pioli’s midfield pupil Rade Krunic, will repropose Sportiello in goal and Florenzi on the right, while in the middle of the field there should be a major chance for Adli, who has never found much space since his arrival in Milan. In front, Leao, after a knock suffered just against Hellas, should start from the bench, as should Giroud: in front, with Pulisic, there will be Okafor and Chukwueze.
At home Cagliari, on the other hand, they are desperately looking for goals (so far only one scored in five matches played): with Luvumbo, in attack, there will be a former of the match as Andrea Petagna, who grew up just in the Rossoneri youth.
Probable lineups:
CAGLIARI (3-5-2): Radunovic; Chatzidiakos, Dossena, Obert; Zappa, Nandez, Makoumbou, Sulemana, Augello; Petagna, Luvumbo. All. Ranieri;
MILAN (4-3-3): Sportiello; Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Okafor, Pulisic. All. Pioli.
