He wants to put his face to it immediately Gennaro Gattuso, the new coach of Olympique Marseille: in the presentation conference held Thursday, the coach from Calabria immediately made his goals clear: "My contract says that either we qualify for the next Champions League or I go home" he said.
Immediately afterwards he explained why he chose the club from one of the biggest cities in France: "They made me an offer and saying yes was simple: this is the only French club to have won the Champions League, it has unique values. The warm atmosphere? I coached in Naples…".
Gattuso also said he is ready to give his all in an important stadium like the Velodrome: "It's one of the few examples in European soccer of a stadium comparable to those in South America: the fans create an incredible atmosphere, " a facility where so many chapters of history have been written".
Gennaro Gattuso, 45 years old on Jan. 9, after a brilliant career as a footballer (world champion both at club level and with the national team, two-time winner of the Champions League with AC Milan) undertook that as a coach at Sion, a Swiss club where he also ended his adventure as a player. He then coached, with mixed fortunes, Palermo, OFI Crete, Pisa, Milan, Napoli and Valencia.
