Great regret for Matteo Arnaldi

It was a bitter day for Matteo Arnaldi, who despite good preconditions and two sets played almost entirely at a very high level, had to surrender to Nicolas Jarry, who was able to cancel as many as three match points in the second fraction before winning the second set at tie-break and winning the next one in fluency.

6(4)-7, 7-6(4), 6-3 was the final score in favor of the Chilean, who was thus able to "avenge" his national team’s Davis Cup defeat and, in the same context, the knockout against Lorenzo Sonego. For Arnaldi, on the other hand, a wasted opportunity but the knowledge that he can play at a high level, as he has already demonstrated in Davis and the US Open.

Born in San Remo on Feb. 22, 2001, Matteo Arnaldi è emerged at the minor tournament level winning four Challengers and two ITF tournaments between August 2021 and June 2023. This year he has participated in all Grand Slam tournaments (though he stopped at the Australian Open at the qualifiers), emerging most notably at the US Open where he reached the fourth round.
