St. Moritz, it’s time for Sofia Goggia

Twelve are summoned for the three-day World Cup on the St. Moritz slope, dedicated to speed after the cancellations of the two downhill races in Zermatt/Cervinia in mid-November. The schedule includes Friday, Dec. 8, a super-giant, followed Saturday, Dec. 9, by a downhill and Sunday, Dec. 10, by another super-giant, preceded on Wednesday, Dec. 6 and Thursday, Dec. 7, by two days of official training. In addition to Eurosport, Rai Due will also broadcast all the Swiss races, confirming the great success the women’s team is having.
Technical director Gianluca Rulfi has summoned Federica Brignone, Marta Bassino, Karoline Pichler, Roberta Melesi, Sofia Goggia, Elena Curtoni, Nicol Delago, Nadia Delago to Laura Pirovano. They are joined by Elena Dolmen, Teresa Runggaldier and Monica Zanoner who three will take part in the downhill events and will only make selection for Saturday’s race. As a reminder, the Italian team canò field up to nine athletes in both super-giant and downhill.
Federica Brignone’s double in the women’s giant slalom in Mont Tremblant meanwhile allow Italy to touch 122 wins in the history of the women’s Alpine Ski World Cup. The Valle d’Aosta native surpasses Sofia Goggia at the top of the list of Italian all-time winners at 23 triumphs, behind them with Deborah Compagnoni with 16 claims.
