The words of Nicolò Melli

Nicolò Melli gave a long interview to the Olimpia Milano website, starting with his return to the city: "I found again, above all, in the city; points of reference that I had had in my first five years. È a different feeling. I’m glad to be back, I didn’t expect it, you can’t predict certain things, the future, but I didn’t count on it and I’m glad it happened”.

On the role of captain: "I don’t know if it is more important in Milan, I don’t want to belittle anyone. As far as I am concerned it gives me a sense of responsibility, both towards myself, for how I have to behave and towards my teammates, the society, the fans. I try to put my face, as much as I can, to express myself, to act as a glue both within the locker room and towards the coach, the society’™. If there’è something that I think makes sense I make myself an ambassador, I try to be a filter. For me è a great honor. It also means that I am getting older. Forò I think it’s a beautiful thing that I hope to be worthy of”.

Attendance record chapter. “Sì, è nice, but I don’t fully realize it and I don’t want to think about it too much. What I am going to do è reflect on what I have done, and I hope to do many more things, when I am retired, hopefully as late as possible. I’m glad that these things happen, I think it’s good to remember what è been è done, forè I still have a long way to go”.

"As a kid I followed soccer a lot and I always appreciated players like Javier Zanetti, Alessandro Del Piero, Francesco Totti, or in basketball Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas, the flags. I don’t think I’m a flag, but to be an important piece in the history of a club, even if it’s just attendance, è it’s nice. It è not what you dream of as a child, those are not the dreams you have, but as you get older you realize you have been an important presence, of an important club. Not everybody can do that, I managed".
