Giorgio Chiellini, official farewell to soccer played: "You were everything to me"

Giorgio Chiellini has officially announced his farewell to playing soccer at age 39. The former Juventus and Italy defender and captain has said enough after his final season at Los Angeles Fc, the last leg of his long professional career that began at Livorno in 2000 and continued at Fiorentina before the Juventus epic that lasted 17 seasons, from 2005 to 2022.

"You have been the most beautiful and intense journey of my life. You have been my everything. With you I have traveled a unique and unforgettable path. But now è the time to start new chapters, face new challenges and write other important and exciting pages of life", Chiellini wrote on social media.

The Tuscan defender made 117 appearances for the Italian national team, winning the 2020 European Championships at Wembley. At Juventus, he won 9 consecutive league titles and 5 Italian Cups, playing a total of 561 games in bianconero, behind only Del Piero and Buffon.

Juventus paid tribute to him thusì "Warrior, Captain and Champion. Thank you for everything Giorgione!".
