The words of Maurizio Sarri ahead of Atletico Madrid-Lazio

Atletico Madrid and Lazio will face each other on the last and decisive day of the Champions League group stage to determine who will finish first and who will finish second in Group E. On the eve of the match, Capitolini coach Maurizio Sarri wanted to send a clear message to his boys.

"I am of the opinion that matches must be attacked. The boys in training seemed to me stimulated, and then there's this stadium, where Atletico hasn't lost in 19 games. First place matters a lot and I hope the boys only have their heads on this match and take the field with the desire to win the round and redeem the last performance" began the coach of the biancocelesti.

"On Saturday in Verona we did well. We made a better performance than many competitions we won. We missed 30 seconds. I expect improvement from the team. We managed to regain a minimum of solidity" which in the initial part è was lacking and this has helped us in the last few outings. Offensively, however, we are still missing something" continued the Capitoline coach.

"I have not yet decided on the formation. The'only sure è Gila. I will make my evaluations without thinking about the next championship match with Inter. We have to be focused only on tomorrow&#39s match and on taking the field with the right attitude. We made a miracle to get to the round of 16 and Atletico è of another category. It is not è natural for us to do these results in Europe, but if we have come this far it means we have done a great job" added the former Chelsea and Juventus coach.

"Lazio's environment è devastating, not the club, but everything è around it. Unattainable expectations are created that also create frustration. I am not affected by all this, forò 20-25 year olds sì. There'è a sense of perennial dissatisfaction. We come from three wins and a tie, and it feels like we are at a funeral, whereas if on the opposite side, with these results, they would have fireworks in the square. This environment needs to calm down, become more logical and more optimistic" concluded Maurizio Sarri.
