Musetti’s super coach has no doubts between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Lorenzo Musetti’s new super coach, Corrado Barazzutti, former captain of the national team in the Davis Cup, gave an interview to the microphones of OA Sport in which he put Jannik Sinner ahead of Carlos Alcaraz as Novak Djokovic’s main antagonist in the upcoming season, starting Dec. 28 with the United Cup, in Australia.

"The victory in the Davis Cup certainly proved that Sinner has a chance to beat Djokovic,” he stressed.

After all, it è not only happened in Malaga, but also in Turin. Basically, not è that Nole when he plays against Jannik will take the victory from home, also because what happened in Spain è a very heavy knockout for the Serb’s confidence. Honestly, I see in 2024 more our player than Alcaraz as the real rival for Djokovic".

"I didn’t like Alcaraz’s last months and the way he lost some important matches against Medvedev in New York and against Sinner in Beijing – added Barazzutti -. Some sets let go like that, going already in his head, make me a little bit doubt him, still talking about an excellent tennis player, who in the first part of 2023 achieved extraordinary results, beating Djokovic in Wimbledon. However, if I evaluate him on the basis of what has happened in the last few months, Jannik è the No. 2 as a level of play, then we will see in Australia where everyone will start on par as resources available to them from the physical point of view. In this regard, I would keep an eye on Rune who has great potential and having someone like Becker in his corner will be very helpful to him’

.

On his new role in Musetti’s team: "He will beò at Tartarini’s side for 15 weeks and will cover the tournaments in Europe. These days I am in Monte Carlo and will be working with Lorenzo and I am convinced that he can aspire to the top-10. I read about a failed season as far as he is concerned, I don’t agree at all. He has had ups and downs and it is precisely on this aspect that we will work".

"We have to follow a path, from this point of view, similar to that made by Sinner, that is, to find constancy in his game both from a technical and a mental point of view, the two areas being linked. Musetti is worth the top 10 players in the world and the preparation will be oriented precisely to minimize those breaks, which also because of his character, he has" concluded Barazzutti.
