Matteo Berrettini, Nicola Pietrangeli unbalance in view of Davis Cup

During the "Medicine and Sports Science" conference, former Italian champion Nicola Pietrangeli, among the various topics discussed, dwelt on Matteo Berrettini's imminent return to the court and the contribution he can make in view of the upcoming Davis Cup, in which Italy will be called upon to defend the title it won at the end of November 2023 by beating Australia 2-0.

"With Matteo back at 100 percent I think there's none left for anyone. We have a team that will start out as the team to beat. The Davis Cup è is different from all the other tournaments. Tennis è an individual sport, whereas in Davis there's more mess and team spirit. You play not only for you and your teammates, but to defend the Azzurri jersey and represent your country to the best of your ability" these are the thoughts of Nicola Pietrangeli as quoted by Ansa'Ansa'.

Berrettini will make his return to the court in the Brisbane tournament, in which the other great returnee Rafael Nadal will also take part. The Roman tennis player, in addition, recently disclosed the hiring of Francisco Roig as his new coach in place of Vincenzo Santopadre. The former Spanish tennis player è was part of Rafa Nadal’s staff from 2005 until 2022 and followed other top Spanish players such as Albert Costa, Alberto Berasategui and Feliciano López. He also served as vice-captain of Spain in the victorious Davis Cup editions of 2009 and 2011.
