Charles Leclerc pinpoints Ferrari’s turning point in 2023
The year 2023 è ended on a crescendo for Ferrari. In fact, in the last rounds of the season, the Maranello-based team è managed to find more competitiveness and be able to play with Red Bull, especially in the Las Vegas GP. During an interview given to the microphones of "Auto Motor und Sport", Charles Leclerc wanted to bluntly analyze the season that has just ended, also highlighting the turning point that initiated the progressive improvements of the "Rossa".
"The turning point of the season è happened in Zandvoort. We tried completely different things with the two cars and learned a lot. Even in the first part of the season we did several experiments. Some were useful, some were not. Sometimes Carlos was fine, sometimes I was fine, and sometimes neither, because nothing worked. That’s why it seemed like we didn’t know what we were doing. But we learned from each of these steps" began the Monegasque driver.
"I am quite satisfied with myself. The characteristics of this car did not suit my driving style. We worked on this throughout the season and slowly found the right direction. The new bottom introduced in Japan particularly helped me. Among the negative aspects were some faults at the beginning of the season and the disqualification in Austin" added the Ferrari driver.
"At the team level it was not è an exceptional season, becauseé our car was not as good as expected. On the other hand, we learned a lot for 2024. In this difficult year we were not able to change things so much, but in the medium to long term we were able to make many steps forward" concluded Charles Leclerc.
