Fiorentina narrowly defeats Verona, Sassuolo recovers Udinese
Fiorentina-Verona 1-0 and Udinese-Sassuolo 2-2
The two Sunday 3 p.m. matches of the 16th day of Serie A ended with a narrow victory for Fiorentina and a draw between Udinese and Sassuolo. The Viola overcame Verona thanks to a goal by Beltran, while the neroverdi drew in a comeback against the Fiulani thanks to a double on a penalty kick by Berardi, who responded to the hosts’ double advantage, signed by Lucca and Pereyra.
At the Franchi, the guests immediately have a golden opportunity to take the lead due to a bungling by Terracciano who kicks Folorunsho in the box: the referee, called by the Var, concedes the penalty but Djuric is hypnotized by the Viola goalkeeper, who redeems his mistake. At 8 è Terracciano again saved the hosts on a close-range header by Ngonge. Ten minutes later Fiorentina found the lead with Nzola, but it was cancelled out for a hand touch by the Angolan. On 30' Ngonge kicked a shot on Folorunsho’s cross from the right but Terracciano è insuperable.
In the second half, there's room for another fine intervention by the Viola goalkeeper on a header by Hien from the development of a corner, before Fiorentina took the lead: at 78' Beltran collected a soft ball from Ikoné in the box and kicked with his right, finding the deflection of Amione that mocked Montipò, giving the three points to the Tuscans.
At Bluenergy Stadium almost everything happens in the second half. In the first half, the Friulans have the only real chance and they take advantage of it with Lucca, who beats Consigli with a header in the corner, on a splendid assist from Pereyra. È it is precisely the Argentine midfielder who finds the double for the hosts at 55' dribbling Erlic and piercing the neroverdi goalkeeper with the plate. Four minutes later forò Udinese remained in 10 due to Payero's expulsion. Sassuolo took courage and on 74' shortened the distance thanks to a penalty kick scored by Berardi. Two minutes from the end è again the Sassuolo captain, again from the penalty spot, to beat Silvestri and sign the final 2-2.
Champions shot for the Viola, which moves up to fifth place on 27 points, tied with Napoli. Sassuolo and Udinese rise to 16 and 13 points respectively, while Verona remains stuck at 11, in second-to-last place.
