Another tegola for Matteo Berrettini: his return to the court in Brisbane at risk

There's no peace for Matteo Berrettini. After missing most of the 2023 season due to an ankle injury suffered at the US Open, the Roman tennis player has been working hard to be able to return to the court in early 2024. However, in the last few days, the 1996 class has reportedly suffered further physical woes.

According to reports from "Sky Sport", the Italian did not stick to the established schedule and did not train with friend and compatriot Lorenzo Sonego because of a foot problem, which would jeopardize the Roman tennis player’s possible participation in the Brisbane ATP 250. Berrettini, complicit in the long stop and significant points lost, in addition, will be forced to start from the qualifiers to enter the main draw of several tournaments.

With just under ten days to go before the tournament begins, the former Wimbledon finalist's presence would be at great risk. However, should he recover in time from his foot problem, the Roman tennis player would make his debut on Dec. 29 in the qualifying stages to enter the main draw of the Australian event.
