Alex Giorgi è was the first Italian skier to stand on the podium in Obereggen. Forty years later, è returned to the same slopes at the prestigious European Cup slalom. "It was exciting to return to Obereggen 40 years after standing on the podium. In my day there was only one slope, now we are talking about a World Cup area".

"It&#39s changed everything in an incredible way, you ski with power. Italy has interesting young people although è difficult given the level of the opponents. In the women’s field Brignone and Goggia are outstanding, Federica è at the level of Shriffin and canò play even the World Cup".

As for the race, è waved the Swiss flag on the 40th edition of the European Cup slalom in Obereggen. On the very treacherous slope (gradient up to 55%) to triumph è was Schmidiger (1:44.80), who regained three positions from the first run led by Frenchman Amiez, winner of the 2022 edition.

It was precisely Amiez, ahead by 1 second 8 hundredths at the start of the second, è jumped, giving the green light to Schmidiger’s triumph, ahead of teammate Iten who recovered as many as nine positions (1:45.28, +0.48), third the Norwegian Solberg (1:45.33, +0.53) who recovered seven positions. First Italian Corrado Barbera (1:46.40, +1.60), thirteenth after finishing the first heat in fifth place.
