The FIGC has è pronounced itself after the ruling on the Superleague: "Following the ruling of the Court of the European Union, the Italian Football Federation, recognizing itself fully in the superordinate bodies of UEFA and FIFA, reaffirms its convinced action to protect the national championships, for the defense of the broader and more general principle of sporting merit and respect for international calendars". 

"For these reasons,” the statement concludes, “in deference to national laws and international regulations, the FIGC believes that the Superleague is not a project compatible with these conditions and will always act, in all venues, pursuing the general interests of Italian football".

“Regarding the so-called Superleague affair, while waiting to deepen the scope and legal effects of the decision published today by the EU Court of Justice, Lega Serie A reaffirms the centrality of the national championship and its fans and hopes that the subsequent developments will see a full involvement of the Leagues and Clubs”: so” instead Lega Serie A.
