Roma folds Napoli in 9 and moves closer to fourth place

Roma won the postponement of the 17th day of Serie A. The Giallorossi, in fact, won 2-0 over Napoli in a match characterized by a lot of nervousness, as evidenced by the 10 yellow cards and two red ones drawn by the match director.

The first chance è for Roma on 19’: on a restart Lukaku leans back for Bove, whose shot chips the top of the crossbar. Two minutes later the young azure tried again on a pass from Belotti, but failed to beat Meret. From 29’ on, the match becomes much more physical with several cautions on both sides: Mario Rui and Kvaratskhelia for Napoli and Paredes, Cristante and Kristiansen for Roma.

At the’beginning of the second half came the first chance for Napoli: at 55’ the Georgian outfielder on Politano’s service managed to finish towards the goal, but without bothering Rui Patricio, who managed to block easily. Later, tempers get even hotter, as at 66' Politano is directly expelled for a reaction foul against Zalewski.

On 71' Mourinho managed to change the game's inertia in favor of his side thanks to the entries of Pellegrini, Azmoun and Elshaarawy. Just the two Azzurri, five minutes later confenzionano the goal of the advantage for the Capitoline: El Shaarawy from a good position hits the ball wrongly, which ends up between the feet of his national teammate, who in turn manages to beat Meret.

At 84’ Roma has a chance to double with Lukaku, who tries to mock the Parthenopean extreme defender with a lob. Two minutes later, further complicating the evening for the champions of italia is Victor Osimhen, who, after being cautioned at 73’, picks up the second yellow for a hold against El Shaarawy,  leaving his team in nine.

In 92’ è Meret again kept Napoli alive by intercepting a dangerous cross from El sharaawy for Lukaku. However, strengthened by double numerical superiority, the Giallorossi managed to find the double at 96' with Lukaku, who finished a counterattack in the best way.

Thanks to this success, Roma overtook Atalanta and Napoli, moving to sixth place (28 points) and just three points behind the fourth place occupied by Bologna. In their next match the Giallorossi will face Juventus away, while the partenopei will face Monza at home.
