Matteo Berrettini withdraws from Brisbane tournament
Matteo Berrettini’s 2023 closes in the worst way. The Italian tennis player, in fact, will not play the Atp 250 in Brisbane, from December 31.
The 27-year-old Roman has not fully recovered from the injury. A foot problem, in fact, is affecting his approach to the new season. The Italian was expected to start from the qualifiers, kicking off Dec. 29.
Slipped to No. 92 in the rankings, in fact, the 2021 Wimbledon finalist was forced to play the preliminary rounds to enter the draw along with, among others, Rafael Nadal, Holger Rune and Ben Shelton.
Berrettini has not played since the U.S. Open played at the turn of August and September, when he withdrew due to an ankle injury in the second round against France’s Arthur Rinderknech.
