Honda, Alberto Puig reveals a backstory on Luca Marini

After finishing for the second year in a row in last place in the constructors championship and officially saying goodbye to Marc Marquez, Honda will try to start again from 2024 from Luca Marini, who left the Mooney VR46 Racing Team after a good six seasons. During an interview with the microphones of Spanish daily "Marca", HRC team manager Alberto Puig wanted to reveal a backstory regarding the negotiations that brought Valentino Rossi’s brother to the Japanese stable.

"First of all, there were not many options. Then we analyzed Marini’s career in both Moto2 and MotoGp and found him to be a very consistent, analytical and young rider. He and his team were the first to contact us when they heard that Marc was leaving. He's the first to show interest and we analyzed, evaluated and the decision to hire him è was made by the company. I am sure he will give us a good contribution, as he comes from a winning bike and will be able to give us a lot of information" began the Spanish manager.

Later Alberto Puig è also dwelt on the market rumors regarding a possible landing of Gigi Dall'Igna in HRC: "We have not only screened this hypothesis, but several. A Japanese in charge of the technical department? We have not yet decided, but we are open to everything. The goal è getting the best ideas possible to try to get competitive again. We have also evaluated hiring new engineers and technical consultants".
