Mikaela Shiffrin makes double in Lienz and stretches ahead of Federica Brignone
After dominating the Giant Slalom, Mikaela Shiffrin è also took home the Slalom in Lienz, taking the 93rd victory of her career. The American skier, in fact, finished the race with a time of 1:48.75, ahead of Germany’s Lena Duerr and Switzerland’s Michelle Gisin, who were respectively 2.34 and 2.45 behind the American. At the foot of the podium was Sweden’s Anna Swenn Larsson with a gap of two seconds and 94 hundredths.
Completing the top 10: Slovak Petra Vlhova (+3.24), Austrians Katharina Huber (+3.31), Katharina Gallhuber (+3.43) and Katharina Liensberger (+3.46), Switzerland's Nicole Good (+3.47) and Austria's Katharina Truppe (+3.49). As for the Italians, the best è Lara della Mea, who does not go beyond 21st place more than four seconds behind Shiffrin. Elimination in the first run, however, for Federica Brignone.
In addition, thanks to the success in Lienz, the Colorado skier was able to extend her lead in the overall standings to 900 points against Federica Brignone’s 637 and Petra Vlhova’s 572. Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami (469) and Italy's other Italian skier Sofia Goggia (428) close out the top five.
