NBA: Milwakuee and Boston keep running, night to forget for Denver
NBA, the results of the night
As many as ten NBA games were scheduled on the Italian night between Fridayì and Saturday. Among all of them stood out, at least on paper, the challenge at the top of the Western Conference between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets, a match in reality without history that sees Shai Gilgeous-Alexander prevail (for him extraordinary 40-point performance) and companions against the defending champions, to whom Nikola Jokic’s double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds was not enough.
At the top of the Eastern Conference, however, the Bucks and Celtics’ run continues: Milwaukee beats the Cleveland Cavaliers 119-111 with a 34-point, 16-rebound Giannis Antetokounmpo (Donovan Mitchell’s 34 points and 9 assists were useless for the Cavs), while Boston gets the better of the Toronto Raptors, with a 31-point, 10-rebound Jaylen Brown decisive in the 120-118 final.
In the other games, home wins for the Washington Wizards, who overcome the Brooklyn Nets 110-104 with 21 points and 13 rebounds by Deni Avidja (Danilo Gallinari absent due to a back problem), home successes also for Orlando Magic (117-108 against the New York Knicks, 32 for Franz Wagner), Phoenix Suns (133-119 over Charlotte Hornets to whom Terry Rozier’s 42 was not enough, for Phoenix 35 by Devin Booker), Portland Trail Blazers (134-128 against San Antonio Spurs, 22 points and 11 assists for Scoot Henderson) and LA Clippers (117-106 against Memphis Grizzlies, 15 points and 20 rebounds for Ivica Zubac).
On the other hand, the Sacramento Kings, who beat the Atlanta Hawks 117-110 with 31 points from De'Aaron Fox, and the Philadelphia 76ers, who overcame the Houston Rockets 131-127 with 42 points from Tyrese Maxey, a success that allows the City of Brotherly Love franchise to keep pace with the Bucks and Celtics in the standings.
