Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton’s move from Mercedes to Ferrari in 2025 represents a significant turning point in the world of Formula 1. This move cannotò be considered simply as an isolated decision, but rather as the result of a series of events that influenced the British driver.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the decline of Mercedes’ W13 and W14 projects seems to have highlighted a loss of cohesion within the Brackley team. Hamilton may have seen this as a sign of deterioration of the unit and the common goal that had made the Mercedes team great. Thus, his choice to switch to Ferrari may have been influenced by this perception.

Recognizing that his stay alone could not restore the technical conditions that had characterized Mercedes’ success, Hamilton accepted the challenge of embracing the Ferrari team, led by John Elkann and Frederic Vasseur. This move could represent a significant change in his career.

In addition, the imminent arrival of French engineer Loic Serra, who is responsible for vehicle performance in Mercedes, at Maranello could be a precursor to other key members of the Mercedes team deciding to follow him. Serra, with his experience and knowledge of the single-seaters with which Hamilton è became champion, could play an important role in developing Ferrari’s performance. Other members of the Mercedes team, such as the head of track activities, Riccardo Musconi, could also be tempted to join Ferrari, further strengthening the Italian team.
