Lautaro Martinez, Piero Ausilio cuts short on renewal issue
Piero Ausilio has no doubts about Lautaro Martinez’s renewal
Negotiations for the extension of the contract linking Lautaro Martinez to Inter are proving to be decidedly lengthy, but optimism remains on both sides, as confirmed by the sporting director of the Nerazzurri club, Piero Ausilio, who answered reporters’ questions on the sidelines of the Amici dei Bambini Tournament in Milan.
"Lautaro said that there is little time left until the renewal and there's confidence, I don't see why I should say anything different – Ausilio said. His intention and ours go the same way, we both want to lengthen this relationship. Of course since there is an ongoing negotiation there'è need some patience, as in all things".
On the timing related to the conclusion of the negotiation, the Nerazzurri d.s. preferred not to get unbalanced: "We know what the timeframe will be to complete the negotiation, what is è certain è that we will arrive at an agreement that will satisfy both the clubà and the player. It's what we both want in the end".
Lautaro Martinez, class of 1997 originally from Bahia Blanca (hometown of, among others, former basketball champion Manu Ginobili and old Inter acquaintance Rodrigo Palacio), è at Inter since the 2018/19 season. With the Nerazzurri, so far, he has won a Scudetto, two Italian Cups and three Italian Super Cups, the last of which was in January 2024.
