F1, mega renovation for Silverstone circuit
The Formula 1 British Grand Prix will continue to be held at Silverstone until 2034, following a new 10-year agreement announced today by the promoter of the world speed championship.
Organized since 1987 without interruption at Silverstone, "it will remain on the calendar until and including 2034, following a 10-year extension with Silverstone promoter and owner, the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC)", F1 wrote in a press release.
The Silverstone circuit hosted the first F1 race on May 13, 1950, won by Italian Giuseppe Farina (Alfa Romeo). Located in a former Royal Air Force base, it sees most teams – based in a triangle between Birmingham, London and Bristol – playing at home.
The weekend of July 7 will see the 59th edition of the GP. The 2024 F1 season, the 75th in history, will begin on Saturday, March 2, in Bahrain, at the Sakhir circuit.
