New blue medal at the World Swimming Championships being held in Doha. In the mixed relay race that concluded the program at sea, Giulia Gabrielleschi, Arianna Bridi, Gregorio Paltrinieri and Domenico Acerenza won the silver medal, behind Australia, which was able to impose itself with a great finish.

After the first two fractions, partial first place for the Turkish team. The third fraction è was, however, dominated, by Gregorio Paltrinieri, author of a spectacular comeback. In the last and decisive fraction, Domenico Acerenza did everything to break away from his rival Se-Bom Lee but, in the final, the Australian got the better of the Italian by only two tenths. Lowest step of the podium for Hungary.

The Italian World Open Water Championships therefore ends with one silver, one bronze and as many as three Olympic passes, in addition to several good placings. There remains the bitterness of having stroked the gold but not being able to bring it home. "The difference was made by the Australian sprint, we will come up with something next time" the words of the blue technical manager Stefano Rubaudo.
